Barrington broke open a tight game in the second half to claim a 28-7 win over Leyden in the first round of the IHSA Class 8A playoffs. That sets up a second-round rematch with Maine South, a team the Broncos knocked off Maine South 41-27 in Week 3.

The Broncos were tied 7-7 at the half with the Eagles but pulled away in the second half with a running game that amassed a whopping 416 yards. Logan Moews rushed for 239 yards and three touchdowns to lead a Broncos, while star wide receiver Josh Babicz subbed for injured quarterback Ray Niro and threw a 28-yard touchdown strike to Jake Parsons on his first snap behind center.

Barrington (9-1) now faces Maine South (7-3), which defeated West Aurora 42-40 in its first-round playoff game.
